A 2022 article published in Vanity Fair titled "The Rebellion Will be Televised" revealed that Stephen Daldry was originally scheduled to direct a stand alone movie about Obi-Wan Kenobi for Lucasfilm. When the third "Star Wars Story" motion picture was put on hold and the film evolved into a TV series, Daltry chose not to direct, but did receive a 'consulting producer' credit on this series.
