A German version of the film entitled Unfriend, and released as Friend Request - La morte ha il tuo profilo (2016) came to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and despite its set country and crew bore an American/British ensemble cast of young actors including Le cronache di Narnia - Il leone, la strega e l'armadio (2005)'s William Moseley, Connor Paolo, Sean Marquette, Brit Morgan and Alycia Debnam-Carey. Although the film is a German production and was shot in Cape Town, South Africa German A-List actor Michael Herbig consequently appeared in Unfriended as a role, the American teenage slasher horror that inspired the version closer to home.
