The book Pine (Tom Hiddleston) conceals the paper with Burr's number in is called "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by T.E. Lawrence. It is the autobiographical account of Lawrence's time in the Middle East as a soldier, and his involvement in the Arabic revolt against Ottoman forces. This is similar to Jonathan Pine, who is a former British soldier and is working as a hotel night manager during the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. Moreover, the page Pine flips to in order to retrieve the note is the title page of Part IV: The Years of Hide and Seek. This is fitting, as that is exactly what Pine has been doing: hiding for four years, and now, by calling Angela Burr, is embarking on a game of hide and seek with Roper.
