Given that Mechagodzilla is controlled by Ghidorah's brain, and specifically the brain of his left head, Kong's coup de grace on Mecha G is the third time Kevin suffers a brutal decapitation. It seems Mike Dougherty was telling the truth when he said decapitation happens to Kevin all the time.
