For both this film and the previous film, series producer Malek Akkad, son of the late Moustapha Akkad, gave Rob Zombie his blessing to ignore his father's conditions for the Halloween series. Akkad had a list of rules as prerequisites for Halloween sequels that filmmakers had to follow if they were to direct an installment (one of the most famous ones being Michael Myers can never die), and Malek Akkad gave Zombie permission to ignore them and do whatever he wanted (which is why Michael Myers was supposed to be dead in the first film's ending).
