Idris Elba and Kate Winslet did the majority of their own stunts including when Winslet falls through the ice and into the lake. A 6-foot wide by 6-foot deep tank was built and buried beneath the snow with a trap door to make the shot as realistic as possible. At the time of filming, it was -5 degrees Fahrenheit when Winslet fell into the water.
