Producer Sir Lew Grade later wrote that he "thought the movie was quite good", particularly the actual raising of the R.M.S. Titanic and Dirk Pitt walking into the wrecked ballroom. He blamed this movie's failure in part on the release of S.O.S. Titanic (1979).
