According to an interview, when Christopher Nolan met his idol Michael Mann, whose film Heat - La sfida (1995) heavily influenced this film (while also starring former Batman, Val Kilmer and featured William Fichtner in a role similar to what he plays in "Dark Knight") allegedly, Mann's first question to Nolan was, "How the hell did you manage to get away with a PG-13 rating for 'The Dark Knight'?"
