Norman Lear co-produced another Marla Gibbs sitcom, 227 (1985), which ran for five years. Marla's 227 and Sherman Helmsley's Amen were later aired back to back Saturday nights on NBC, and both became huge hits and the backbone of NBCs rating dominance on Saturday nights throughout the eighties.
