Richard Hell sensed a lot of resentment from director Ulli Lommel as the shoot went on due to Richard being the center of the film and having both Carole Bouquet and Suzanna Love's characters be his love interest and so, Lommel halfway through filming decided to write himself into the film and take some of the focus away from Richard and be Carole's love interest in the film.
