An early draft of the screenplay for this film was titled, "The Incredible Dr. Nobody". In this version of the screenplay, Kevin Bacon's character bore the corny-if-apt name of "Dr. Noah Boddy". In rewrites, both the picture's title and the name of its lead character were changed so that the material could be taken seriously.
