For advice on veterinary procedures and animatronic movements, the filmmakers sought Jonathan Cranston, a Gloucestershire veterinarian surgeon who had experience with wildlife in South Africa. Cranston advised director J.A. Bayona and the producers on how to choreograph several scenes to accurately depict complex veterinary procedures that involved the dinosaurs. Cranston also worked closely with Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniella Pineda, and Justice Smith to teach them how to perform such procedures. Additionally, Cranston advised the puppeteers on creating subtle and authentic animal movements and also worked with Bayona on two scenes. Cranston was on-set for twelve days, primarily at Pinewood Studios.
