Many scenes were shot on location at various CART races in the 2000 FedEx Championship Series. As part of the deal with the CART series, fatal crashes were not allowed in the film. Two racing drivers, Gonzalo Rodriguez and Greg Moore, died within two months of each other in the previous, 1999 season.
