The movie features a couple of references to Cruella De Vil, the villainess in the animated Disney film "101 Dalmatians", which was released within months of the original "The Parent Trap" in 1961. The 1996 live action remake of "101 Dalmatians" featured Natasha Richardson's sister, Joely Richardson.
