An unmade episode of the series' second season called 'Vigil' would have acted as a sequel to this film's flashbacks while also exploring Bruce and Alfred's relationship. The episode would have had Batman gravely injured and Alfred having to keep him awake while Robin fetches Leslie Thompkins, flashbacks explore Batman's origin from Alfred's point of view and showing what happened after Bruce first put on the cape and cowl in the film: Alfred realizes Bruce is actually going to carry out his crusade and makes a desperate attempt to talk Bruce out of it, threatening to quit, but Batman stoically refuses and tells Alfred he can leave. Alfred later watched the news while packing and saw Batman brutally attacking a group of criminals, he would then rush down to the site of the battle and use a prop gun from his acting days to stop Batman from murdering a young punk.
