The "kamalira" cashmere shawl, and its associated ring test, is a fictional substitute for shawls made of shahtoosh cashmere of a particular endangered species of antelope; "shahtoosh" is a description of the fineness of the yarn as it is spun and of the fabric as it is woven or knit. Shahtoosh shawls are protected (as of 2022) and may not be exported under international laws.
