After the USAF LTC is shot down in his F-15 and is found by Lea Thompson's character, she interrogates (Andy) by quizzing him on the 'Capital of Texas'. Upon answering correctly, she angrily challenges him that it is actually (and incorrectly) Houston. Whether intended or not, Powers Boothe who plays the character was actually born in 1948 in Snyder, TX (west Texas between Lubbock & Abilene) as a sharecropper's son, where he used to perform hard physical work "chopping cotton" as a youngster, and in the movie certainly doesn't hide his Texan twang in his voice, thus also possibly suggesting he would easily know the answer to the question, being from Texas.
