As of the debut, the programme shares several parallels with L'ispettore Tibbs (1988) and Longmire (2012), American programmes that ran for several seasons in different decades. All were set in a small town and follow the activities of the local police force. All have an unusually high number of murders, and feature an eccentric chief officer or sheriff.
