George Reeves is shown burning his Superman costume. This did not happen because of a purported cancellation. The fact is that the inner foam rubber suit would absorb a lot of perspiration and dirt during the shooting season and it was never cleaned. By the end of each season it smelled so bad that Reeves would burn it to get rid of it. When the next season began, he was given a new costume.
