The train set that ran through the living room set in which characters would often enter was a real steam engine. In a 2015 interview with Glamour, series star Ricky Schroder said that the train was, "actually big, heavy, and dangerous" due to the massive amounts of air pressure inside. Schroder revealed that while most cast members enjoyed riding the train, it made him anxious due to the danger involved.
