Shûsuke Kaneko, director of the Heisei Gamera trilogy and Gojira, Mosura, Kingu Gidorâ: Daikaijû sôkôgeki (2001) recalled that as a child he wasn't convinced Kong could actually beat Godzilla so he drew his own manga adaptation where Godzilla won.
