The first season involves Joe Reagan's death, which happened off-screen a few months prior to the premiere. Accepting the case to solve his brother's death, Jamie infiltrates a long-time rumored group named Blue Templar. Blue Templar was an undercover organization inside NYPD's police born in the 70s years after Frank Serpico's scandal as a parallel Internal Affairs division, that in the 80s turned into a criminal organization implicated in drugs and crime. Eventually, Jamie learns that Joe was a member of Blue Templar and that Joe's partner Sonny Malevsky was Blue Templar's leader, and that Malevsky assassinated him when Malevsky discovered that Joe wanted to reveal the truth about Blue Templar's activities.
