Xerxes is depicted in the 300 films as a giant bodybuilder of a man as is referred to a God-King or simply a God, similar in appearance to the New Gods in mainstream DC Comics originally created by Jack Kirby. Zack Snyder would later direct the early DC Extended Cinematic Universe films L'uomo d'acciaio (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Justice League (2017), which would draw heavy influence from Kirby's work about the New Gods of the worlds of New Genesis and Apokalips, which are led (respectively) by Highfather and Darkseid.
