During the beginning scene, where Tonto meets the boy, he is given a bag of peanuts to eat. Later, when he is telling the story of the film, Tonto is burying one of cowboys near the beginning and gives them each a gift. One of them is given an empty peanut bag that he got in the future, from the boy. A nod to Tonto's mystical abilities.
