Russell Mulcahy states in the DVD commentary that "Gimme the Prize (Kurgan's Theme)" was his least favorite of the Queen songs used in this movie, because he does not like heavy metal. Brian May also commented (to a Japanese magazine in 1986) that both Freddie Mercury and John Deacon hated the song.
