Even though the character has been popularly dubbed "Baby Yoda," the first episode reveals "The Child" is actually 50 years old. In addition to Yoda being 900 years old when he died in Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983), this confirms their species ages much slower than others throughout the Star Wars universe. However, Yoda also said that he had been teaching Jedi for 800 years in L'Impero colpisce ancora (1980), indicating that the child will have a lot of growing up to do in the next 50 years.
