The opening scene in which K confronts Sapper Morton is a close copy of the original opening scene written and storyboarded for Blade Runner (1982). The scene was dropped in subsequent re-writes, but it would have featured Rick Deckard in a house on the countryside, waiting for a Replicant dressed in a protection suit and gas mask while a pot of soup is boiling in the kitchen. The biggest differences are that Deckard doesn't fight the Replicant but simply shoots him, then removes his artificial jaw instead of an eye (in early drafts, Replicants consisted of inorganic material).
