Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel) make a deal with the "universe" saying that they won't get pregnant until they see Barney's doppelgänger. When Lily imagined she saw Barney (Neil Patrick Harris)'s doppelgänger but it wasn't, Marshall just went along with it and they tried to have a baby but did not succeed. When they go to see a doctor to find out why they weren't getting pregnant, the doctor was Barney's doppelgänger, and they get pregnant a few episodes later on.
