The aftermath of the climax, when it is revealed that Elijah had hacked the Security Cameras at Raven Hill, is similar to the ending of Watchmen (both the film and the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons). In both cases, the villain (Ozymandius in Watchmen and the Shamrock tattoo organization in this movie) is believed to be triumphant, but there is an expose that shakes everything to its core right at the last moment of the story. It's also notable to say that Watchmen's God-Like being, Doctor Manhattan, has been heavily implied to have created the original DC Universe and occasionally tampers with it, following the events of Watchmen. Much like this movie, Watchmen is an origin story that is (mostly) realistically grounded in reality.
