Tessa Thompson filmed an advert, whilst in character as King Valkyrie, for the UK promoting the Direct Line insurance company. Interestingly this 60 second cinema and television commercial had very little Marvel Inc involvement beyond giving their approval for both the script and the final cut. The actual advertising campaign was entirely financed by Direct line but part of the licensing deal with Marvel was that it would make mention of the Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) film as well (thus Marvel also received free advertising out of the deal). Made only for the UK market and was shot by commercial specialist director Bryan Buckley in February 2022, it was filmed in Lisbon, Portugal (doubling for Brighton in Sussex) and released a couple of weeks before the movie was theatrically released. The costume Valkyrie wears in the advert is an original costume from the movie and loaned to the production by Marvel.
