In the documentary "Taint of greatness, The Journey of Beavis and Butt-head", it was revealed that Trey Parker and Matt Stone got the inspiration for South Park because of Beavis and Butt-head. Since Beavis and Butt-head also has rougher animation and crude sense of humor, it inspired Trey and Matt to make a similar type of show. (Matt and Trey even had a meeting with Mike Judge after they told him about starting their own show).
