Zazie Beetz was more interested in Disney films than comic film adaptions, she stated in an interview, "I was a musical/Disney girl growing up, I liked Mulan (1998), Pocahontas (1995), Tutti insieme appassionatamente (1965), Cantando sotto la pioggia (1952)-- I was much more in that direction than the comic-book universe."
