Steven Soderbergh and Lem Dobbs agree on how much they like that the film is mostly about older characters. Soderbergh notes that it was an "uphill battle" with Artisan, since most of the characters were over 50. Both the director and the screenwriter agree that they miss that aspect in film. Dobbs likes how "tired" some of the characters are in The Limey and how that feels like some of the Westerns of old.
