The third season premiere was originally broadcast as a two hour TV movie. In syndicated reruns the episode is divided in two separate parts. Although John D. LeMay wanted to leave the series after the second season he made an arrangement with the producers to appear in the third season premiere so that the series could resolve the storyline of Ryan.
