After its release, Colin Wilson recalled that author John Fowles had regarded Gioco perverso (1968), the movie adaptation of his eponymous novel, as the worst movie ever made. Wilson then sent Fowles a postcard, telling him that he himself had gone one better: the movie adaptation of his novel "The Space Vampires" as 'Lifeforce'. In an amusing coincidence, actor Jerome Willis has a supporting role in both films.
