When the film was announced in 1986, Anil Kapoor was furious with the producer's for signing Madhuri Dixit. Anil Kapoor was unhappy being paired with a small flop actress. He wanted a bigger name opposite him. The producer's stuck to their decision and Madhuri remained in the film. It was only when Anil started shooting with her that he realized how talented she was. Anil quickly introduced Madhuri to Boney Kapoor who decider to guide her in her new career.
