Although most protagonists in Disney animated theatrical releases are orphans, this is only the fourth to portray the death of a parent onscreen. The previous films were Bambi (1942), Red e Toby nemiciamici (1981), and Il Re Leone (1994). In the two from the 90s, the body of the parent is seen on-screen. Blood is shown only in Hunchback.
