Stephen King was a huge fan of the "The Haunting of Hill House" directed by Mike Flanagan and both are known as big admirers of each other's work. Flanagan has made several King adaptations including "Doctor Sleep" (a sequel to "The Shining") and "Geralds Game". There are parallels between this series and The Shining. Both involve an isolated family with a child who has a notable degree of psychic ability. And both stories feature a parent driven mad by ghosts or spirits, who convince them to murder family members.
