Legendary British comedians Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise signed with the BBC in 1969 and started making television shows in color. They desperately wanted Judy Garland as a guest star on one of their shows. Unfortunately, she died before negotiations could begin. Coincidentally, Bernard Delfont was the uncle of Michael Grade, Morecambe and Wise's agent at the time. Grade was instrumental in persuading Morecambe and Wise to only sign for the BBC if they agreed to broadcast their shows in color.
