Emperor Shaddam IV is described in the book as an old man but his shape is of a man in thirties, fans online nominated Mads Mikkelsen, Viggo Mortensen, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung, Denzel Washington, Charles Dance for the role of the Emperor as they all above the age of 50 but doesn't appear so, before choosing Christopher Walken in May 2022.
