Penny Johnson Jerald is the only member of the main cast with extensive sci-fi acting experience. She guest starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation: Homeward (1994) before her recurring role as Captain Ben Sisko's main love interest, Kasidy Yates, on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), starting with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Family Business (1995). Seth MacFarlane appeared as junior engineer Ensign Rivers in Enterprise: The Forgotten (2004) and Enterprise: Affliction (2005). Scott Grimes had his scenes from Star Trek: The Next Generation: Evolution (1989) deleted.
