On Monday, 7th September 2020, ITV confirmed that the popular drama will return for a tenth series in 2021 and that series 10 will be the final series. Series 10 will begin filming in Spring 2021 for broadcast later that year. Martin Clunes and producer Philippa Braithwaite stated "after sixteen years we now feel that the time has come to say goodbye to Portwenn".
