Philip Anschutz (the Billionaire who approached Clive Cussler to adapt this film) and Bristol Bay Productions (Anschutz's production company) still retain the rights to adapt a number of Cussler's books to film, though due to the poor reception of Sahara, and the animosity that formed between Cussler and the production, it's unlikely that we will see any more Dirk Pitt adventures on the screen (at least, not from Anschutz and Bristol Bay), even though Cussler has since passed.
