In season three, when the kids find Jurassic Park's original visitor center, Yaz claims John Hammond was killed by a pack of Compys after falling. Darius disagrees, saying Hammond died of old age. They're both right. Darius is referencing the original JP movies, in which Hammond is mentioned to have died an old man. Yaz, however, is referencing the novel. At the end of the novel, Hammond wanders away from the visitor center. He encounters a pack of Compys, where he attempts to pet one and is bitten on the hand. Compys are said to have venom that is used to immobilize prey. Hammond succumbs to the venom, falling down a hill, and is eaten alive by the Compys.
