Naseeruddin Shah was accused of lashing out at Manmohan Desai and all big commercial filmmakers, and calling their films " crap " etc. Naseeruddin stated this was untrue. It was Manmohan Desai who called parallel cinema shit and trash. Naseer stated that he wished Manmohan Desai would actually see some of those art movies before being so critical. Then his views and comments would be valid. Manmohan Desai had no reason to he insecure about art film makers and actors. Saazaye Maut and Naseeb were released side by side. The collections of Naseeb should make Manmohan Desai a very happy man. One can not compare the collections to Saazaye Maut. Naseeruddin felt it was art films and actors who had the uphill task. But they never were cribbing against Manmohan Desai saying he made bad films. Both worlds of cinema can co exist together.
