John Newland was one of several directors on Peyton Place. In 1965, he directed 24 episodes of the series. However, Mr. Newland is better known to the public as the host and director of all 96 episodes of the anthology series ONE STEP BEYOND (1959-1961). Several years later in 1978, the series was revived with John Newland hosting and directing most of the episodes; the new series was named The Next Step Beyond. The series was broadcast for one year with 25 episodes, 14 of which were remakes of One Step Beyond episodes.
