DIRECTOR TRADEMARK (Don Bluth): (children): Anastasia was separated from her family in the beginning of this movie, when the Russian Revolution began. When her family was murdered in 1918, she became an orphan. There were also several orphans featured in a scene at an orphanage where Anastasia, or Anya, lived for ten years following her separation from her family.
