When Harry is roaming through Hogwarts with The Marauders Map, he sees the approach of Peter Pettigrew by the moving shoe prints on the map, but never sees him. This is later explained by Pettigrew having spent a dozen years in the physical form of Scabbers, Ron Weasley's pet rat. This (arguably) suggests that his presence would be more accurately represented on the map by animal footprints than human shoe prints (as we know from the closing credits that the movement of animals around Hogwarts are shown by their respective footprints). However, in the books it is shown that the map can see through most forms of magical concealment, because in 'The Goblet of Fire', the map accurately shows the real identity of a person disguised with Polyjuice Potion.
