Frollo has been described as Disney's most evil character. However, some critics have also pointed out that, unlike real people, Frollo does not have a single redeeming trait. This was later revised in the musical adaptation, in which Frollo was turned, as in the novel, into the archdeacon of Notre Dame who raises of Quasimodo out of genuine devotion and care instead of selfishness and fear. This makes his character arc more compelling and disturbing, as he becomes as evil as his movie counterpart.
