A fake commercial for Dean Trumbell's mattress store was shot but cut and released as a DVD extra. The scene is a remake of a real circulated video known as "The Mattress Man." A fake asphalt floor made of cushion was used for Philip Seymour Hoffman to land on after hopping off a set of mattresses, to give the illusion of hurting himself on the ground. Coincidentally, what does remain in the film is a shot of Barry jumping off a low balcony onto the asphalt of the street, though his landing is not shown and he's also not hurt.
